Build complex toys and simple tools

There's this dog that we see sometimes when we're out for a walk. He's in front of one of the houses we pass, and whenever someone walks by, he runs back and forth, barking and yelping. Doesn't seem very dangerous. I think he barks just to get your attention so you'll watch him running back and forth. What's interesting is the manner in which he runs, with his front legs held stiff. So he sort of sproings up and down like Tigger in Winnie the Pooh. And while he's showing off, I'm snapping away with my brand new DMC-FZ28.Of all of the pictures I shot, this one is my favorite. This is what it looked like, pretty much straight out of the camera, with a little cropping. It's not the sharpest. In fact it's quite blurry. Not only is the dog blurred, but so is the background. So if it's not sharp, why pick this one?Because this one tells the story of what it was like to see the dog running. This is the one that gives a feeling of movement. Sometimes, we concentrate too hard on getting a picture that's perfect in every way, while forgetting that one of the objects of the exercise can be to tell a story, and the picture has to do that on its own. If I had been on assignment for Life magazine, this would have been the picture, run double-truck, to tell the story of this dog.
